Gary Oliver, President, Chief Executive Officer
Gary Oliver brings an important combination of management experience to Blazent, both as a successful software leader, and as a senior level IT executive. This first hand experience allows him to clearly understand the business needs of today's IT executive, and to then to manage the delivery of solutions to directly meet those needs.
Gary joins Blazent from Peregrine Systems, where he was Vice President and General Manager of the Infrastructure Management Business Unit, responsible for Peregrine's application solutions. These solutions were installed in over 92% of the Fortune 500. Prior to Peregrine, Gary served as Vice President and General Manager of the IT Service Management business at Remedy Corporation, with over 10,000 customers worldwide.
Prior to Remedy, Gary was Sr. Vice President at Visa International, responsible for the company's internal technology environment. In this role he established the important balance of running IT as a business while delivering high levels of service and speed. Prior to Visa, Gary held several marketing and sales management positions at IBM, including the management of worldwide sales and marketing of IBM's data management solutions.
Gary graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a BA in Economics.
David Beirne, Director
Dave joined Benchmark Capital in May 1997 and currently serves on the boards of Blazent, ePhysician, Securify and Vivecon.
Prior to joining Benchmark, Dave founded and was CEO of Ramsey/Beirne Associates, the leader in senior management, high-impact executive search for information technology companies. In his more than 10 years at the firm, Dave developed a nationwide reputation for recruiting high-profile executives.
Paul C. Dali, Director
Paul Dali is a founder and the Managing General Partner of KeyNote Ventures. His emphasis is on investing in enterprise software, storage and security systems. Past investments and Board seats are: Entegrity Solutions (security software), Repeater Technology (RPTR), Storm Software, MusicVision, @Pos (sold to Symbol), Cybermedia (CYBR acquired by Network Associates), Media Vision and Bizfinity.
Current investments include Candera (storage management controls), Nuasis (networked call centers), UltraDots (nanotechnology), Blazent (IT intelligence software) and Broadware (video operating platforms).
Prior to his career as a VC, he had 23 years of operating experience that included building Regis McKenna into the largest high-tech marketing and communications company as its CEO. He was also Vice President and General Manager of the PC Division of Apple Computer, and Chairman of its marketing council.
Paul has a BS Degree in Finance from California State University.
Jeanne M. Sullivan, Director
Jeanne has had an email address since 1980. She is proud of being part of the technology revolution over the last 24 years and working with some of the world's greatest high tech companies. Jeanne likes to say, "I have participated with some of the most successful companies of our times, seen great CEO's and teams in action and learned how to and how not to build a great company…" She represents StarVest on several technology company boards.
Prior to StarVest, Jeanne's 30-year business career includes 24 years in the information technology field and fourteen years in the venture capital business as a Managing Director for Olivetti Ventures. These U.S.-based funds invested in 40 early and growth-stage information technology companies. From 1981 to 1990, Jeanne was with AT&T and gained many years of operating experience as Product Director for a Bell Laboratories venture business unit. From 1971 to 1978, she was with Bozell Worldwide, in business marketing roles.
Bringing a full grasp of the issues facing growth-stage companies today, Jeanne contributes in the areas of marketing, channel development, product and strategic direction for technology companies. She helped build the New York New Media Angel Investors Program and served as Chair of the selection program. She is a frequent guest lecturer on the subject of investing in technology companies.
